SPONSOR: The Inter-State Studio and Publishing Company’s “Spreading Smiles” contest is sponsored by Inter-State Studio and Publishing Company.
ENTRY: All entries must include a completed entry form and no more than one uploaded picture for each entry. Each class may only enter once. Submissions will be accepted through 11:59PM March 19, 2017. All entries made after March 19, 2017 will not be eligible. All submissions must be entered through Inter-State Studio’s webpage at https://inter-state.com/spreadingsmiles. No other type of submission will be accepted.
The photograph must be a digital photograph and uploaded in .jpg format.
All entry materials (including the photo entry and entry information) must be received by during the entry period through the website. Failure to submit all required information and submissions in the manner required in the Official Rules may result in disqualification.
REQUIREMENTS: Participation is open to any service-learning classroom (K-12) project that is taking place during the Fall 2016 semester and may continue into the rest of the 2016-2017 academic school year. In order to complete in the voting portion of the contest, entries must incorporate the following aspects of a service learning project:
Meets a real community need
Integrates into and enhances the curriculum
Coordination with a community agency or the community
Helps foster civic responsibility
Provides structured time for reflection
RELEASES: In order for the Participant(s) to have his/her photograph eligible for public showing, he/she is responsible for obtaining all required licenses, clearances, consents, releases, or other authorizations so that the picture can be shown in any and all media without infringement of any copyright owned by a third party. The Participant is also responsible for obtaining releases, consents, clearances, or other authorization (“Permissions”) as needed for use of the image of each individual included in the photograph. Verification of Permissions may be required before the photograph is uploaded for voting.
JUDGING: All judging will be handled by Inter-State Studio’s management. Voting will start on March 21, 2017. Prizes will be given to the top three projects. Official winners will be announced on April 12, 2017.
PRIZES: The top three photos with the most votes will be awarded one of three cash prize grants and a plaque. 1st place with the most votes will be awarded a grand prize plaque and a $750 grant to go towards their service learning project. 2nd place with the second most votes will be awarded a plaque and a $500 grant to go towards their service learning project. 3rd place will go to the project with the third most votes and will be awarded a plaque and a $250 grant to go towards their service learning project. In order to be eligible to win a cash prize, each entry must specify how they will use their cash prize money (if awarded) to enhance their service learning project in the entry form process. Failure to answer this question may disqualify the participant.
